The profile of the school is strongly linked internationally both with Europe and the whole world and IT and digital technology play an important part. It is situated on a classic campus, in the historic town of Str\u00e4ngn\u00e4s.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In 1994 Europaskolan was founded as a sixth form college (upper secondary school) of high standard.<\/strong> The reasoning was that high achievers from all over the country would be educated into becoming allround, competent professionals and responsible citizens.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The profile of the school is actively orientated towards Europe and the whole world. It uses up to date Information Technology and digital aids.<\/strong> History, politics, economics, industry and commerce and European culture are an integral part of teaching. Everything is geared towards an increasing awareness and a feeling for a united Europe which will open doors into Europe and further education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cOne of Sweden\u2019s best sixth form colleges.\u201d <\/strong>This is the statement made by the Swedish Education Authorities. In this school you will find a feeling for tradition and everlasting values with an emphasis on \u201ckeeping up to date\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Europaskolan Str\u00e4ngn\u00e4s was first to follow the standardisation laid out by the Swedish \u201cKunskapsr\u00f6relsen\u201d maintaining a high quality <\/strong>of learning and knowledge. From the start we have had links with the academic world, including Kungliga Tekniska H\u00f6gskolan, KTH (The Royal Institute of Technology). We also co-operate with various firms such as pharmaceutical companies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are six course options\/programmes at the school, including two\u00a0specialist advanced courses,\u00a0The Science Course Option and The\u00a0Modern Humanities course option,\u00a0<\/strong>which we were the first to offer as a free school sixth form college in Sweden.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The school is run as a limited company owned by the non-profit making foundation Europaskolan.<\/strong> Any profit is ploughed back into teacher training, refurbishing the buildings and renewing equipment. The Europa option gives a grounding in social sciences. In the second and third year you can specialize either in social sciences or the humanities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Europa option\u2019s courses start in Europe. <\/strong>They contain everything from co-operation and conflict to the arts and culture. You will study at speed with the opportunity to participate in university education and get some of the best education in Europe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Have you gained an A grade in maths, physics and chemistry? If so the Science option can be for you. <\/strong>Here you can study to be a teacher with a high academic education. You are also invited to participate in courses at Kungliga Tekniska H\u00f6gskolan, KTH (The Royal Institute of Technology) and S\u00f6dert\u00f6rns h\u00f6gskola (S\u00f6dert\u00f6rn University) in Stockholm.<\/p>\n<p>This \u201cspetsutbildning\u201d (specialist course) is the highest level of sixth form college course you can take in Sweden. It is based on the concept of motivating those students who have a particular interest in theoretical subjects. It can be compared to sports colleges but with the emphasis on natural and social sciences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Europaskolan in Str\u00e4ngn\u00e4s was the first school in Sweden to offer the Science option <\/strong>when the government gave the go-ahead for specialist training in 2009. The course was overseen for quality of education by KTH, S\u00f6dert\u00f6rn University and Astra Zeneca. In addition we study what affects international relations, how conflicts arise and how they can be solved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You will take specialist courses in sociology and history.<\/strong>\u00a0In-depth courses cover European cultural understanding and society, the history of ideas, conflict and co-operation, democracy and human rights as well as debate and discussion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>These special courses will be run in co-operation with the university of Uppsala and Stockholm.<\/strong> These special courses constitute the highest possible qualification attainable in Sweden at 6th form (senior high school) level.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>The Business Programme<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1347\" src=\"http:\/\/staging.europaskolan.se\/strangnas\/wp-content\/uploads\/Foretagarprogrammet680.jpg\" alt=\"Foretagarprogrammet680\" width=\"680\" height=\"213\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you want to learn how to start up your own company?<\/strong> Then this course is for you. You \u00a0will be attractive to the work market and it will prepare you well for further studies at university or business college.<\/p>\n<p>In this Business Programme you will create, manage and develop a business with your classmates. Just as you would in real life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The programme gives you theoretical knowledge and \u201chands on\u201d experience.<\/strong> You will have support from an actual company during your whole time at school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You will study amongst other things, business economics, how to become an entrepreneur and company law. <\/strong>During the third year you can choose to specialize in your chosen area of interest \u2013 perhaps international finance, marketing or accounting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Business Programme is a direct link into trade and industry. <\/strong>\u00a0It will also prepare you for further studies with or without further business experience.<\/p>\n<h3>What could you become?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>This course provides you with a\u00a0 foundation for further university or college studies to be:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor of Science (economics)<\/li>\n<li>Lawyer<\/li>\n<li>Subject Teacher in secondary school or sixth form college<\/li>\n<li>Psychologist<\/li>\n<li>Sociologist<\/li>\n<li>Behavioural Psychologist<\/li>\n<li>Social Scientist<\/li>\n<li>Political Scientist (specialising in economics and statistics)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you choose Science 2 as a specialist extra course, you can extend your qualifications and will be open to further advanced \u00a0studies as a physiotherapist, dietician, agriculturalist, architect or nurse.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>The Chemistry\/Physics Course Option \u2013 Chemistry\/Physics Programme (NA)<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1336\" src=\"http:\/\/staging.europaskolan.se\/strangnas\/wp-content\/uploads\/kemi_fysikpprogramme680t.jpg\" alt=\"kemi_fysikpprogramme680t\" width=\"680\" height=\"213\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you want a future as a well-educated natural scientist? Perhaps as a researcher? Then the above course is right for you and includes physics, chemistry and mathematics. <\/strong>The Chemistry\/Physics Programme has been developed in co-operation with both industry and Kungliga Tekniska H\u00f6gskolan (The Royal Institute of Technology) in Stockholm. It also has links with Str\u00e4ngn\u00e4s companies which manufacture pharmaceutical and biotechnical products.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This programme can be a springboard to an exciting future as a natural scientist<\/strong>. Take the opportunity to broaden your horizons and develop your artistic ability. These skills will be very useful in your other studies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are several advantages in taking these additional arts based classes alongside your normal A level course\/programme.<\/strong> By studying subjects such as art, music and theatre, you will be using both sides of your brain which develops creativity. This creative ability will also be useful in other subjects and can make study easier.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You can choose your own extra classes before year 2 or 3.\u00a0<\/strong>It doesn&#8217;t matter which option programme you choose. &#8220;Artes&#8221; is an extra course and open to all students at Europaskolan Str\u00e4ngn\u00e4s. All staff and pupils are expected to conduct themselves appropriately. The expectations of the respective schools should also take into account the pupil\u2019s age and actual situation at the time. The basic principles are complemented in each school by their own individual rules and regulations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Openness and approachability is a comprehensive concept<\/strong>\u00a0which involves courtesy, honesty, trust and sharing i.e. the ability to co-operate and work together both in school and in the outside world.
